Creation Care
Humans, in service to God, have special roles on behalf of the whole of creation. Made in the image of God, we are called to care for the Earth as God cares for the Earth.
From the ELCA Social Statement Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope, and Justice (1993) |
With this in mind, the New Hope Creation Care Ministry Team encourages congregation members and friends to join us in striving to:
- Reflect God’s call to earth-keeping in our faith lives;
- Take personal responsibility to care for creation through our behaviors, choices, and actions in our homes, places of work, schools, and communities;
- Minimize the environmental footprint of our church building and property by making earth-friendly maintenance and purchasing decisions, and embracing sustainable practices in our church activities;
- Educate ourselves about legislative issues at the local, state and national level and, on behalf of creation, advocate for environmental justice issues.
