There are many opportunities for youth of all ages at New Hope. If you are interested in learning more about any of these activities, contact Cindy Ranker, Deacon.
Children aged 3 through high school gather Sunday mornings during the school year to learn about God, the Bible and faith. Some special activities throughout the year include the Christmas pageant, age-appropriate service projects, and "flash mobs."
Middle School Youth
New Hope’s Middle School Youth participate in Confirmation (see below), Sunday School, and service projects once a month. On the first Wednesday of the month (October to May), middle school students gather to do a service project. Every year we have students who attend the synod's middle school retreat, FreeRide. If you are interested in learning more, contact Cindy Ranker.
High School Youth Group
New Hope high school youth get together regularly for activities such as movies, lock-ins, service projects, games, fellowship and faith talk. One of our ongoing activities includes Road Trip, the Delaware-Maryland Synod’s high school youth event which is held each January. At the event we meet other Lutheran youth from around the synod to worship, sing, have fun, serve and learn how God is active in our lives.
Confirmation is a two-year program of study, traditionally for students in 7th and 8th grade. Year one is Bible study and year two focuses on the Small Catechism and Lutheranism. The program is supported by a host of adults, including adult guides for small group instruction and numerous parents who prepare meals, schedule acolytes, and plan service projects. Part of our confirmation program includes attending the synod's FreeRide Retreat in October. If you have a youth who is interested in participating in our confirmation program, please contact Pastor Ginny or Cindy Ranker.
